Many people come to therapy expecting to be analysed, advised, or given strategies to apply.
That isn’t how I work.
Before I trained as a therapist I held senior leadership roles in UK government, working across national security where discretion, trust, and resilience were fundamental. I understand that everyone has a different story to tell, and nobody has all of the answers. Sometimes life just throws a surprise at us.
Our sessions tend to feel more like a thoughtful conversation. One that makes room for curiosity, emotion, experimentation, and meaning. We think things through together, sometimes using metaphor, imagery, or humour, and we’re not afraid to try things out carefully to see what helps.
Clients often tell me they value:
I draw on a range of psychotherapeutic and psychological approaches, including psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and where necessary coaching. These are not applied as fixed methods.
Instead, the focus is on what is happening for you, and what helps you make sense of it in a way that feels meaningful and workable.
Sometimes we’ll stay with conversation.
Sometimes we’ll slow things down and notice what’s happening in the moment.
Sometimes we’ll use metaphor, imagery, or focused attention to explore things differently.
The work evolves collaboratively.
Choosing a therapist is an important decision. Taking a little time to explore that is part of the process.
If something in this description resonates, you’re welcome to get in touch.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want to say, an initial conversation is simply a way of seeing whether this feels like the right place to begin.
Therapy works best when there is a sense of fit, trust, and shared curiosity. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’d be glad to talk.
